One of the most commonly found breakfast/lunch item in local Hong Kong cafe is the Hong Kong Style Satay Beef with Macaroni (沙嗲牛肉通粉). Let's see my simplified recipe:
Ingredients:
2 cups Macaroni
1/2 lb Beef (thinly sliced)
6 cups Chicken Stock
1/2 cup Frozen Vegetables (Corn & Pea)
4 Tbsp Chinese Satay Sauce
1 Tbsp Peanut Butter
1 Tbsp Curry Powder
1 pinch Salt & Pepper
Method:
Ingredients:
2 cups Macaroni
1/2 lb Beef (thinly sliced)
6 cups Chicken Stock
1/2 cup Frozen Vegetables (Corn & Pea)
4 Tbsp Chinese Satay Sauce
1 Tbsp Peanut Butter
1 Tbsp Curry Powder
1 pinch Salt & Pepper
Method:
- Cook macaroni according to package instruction until soft and tender
- In a pot, heat up the chicken stock and add in frozen vegetables. Season with salt and pepper to taste
- In a sauce pan, heat up oil and stir fry the beef until lightly browned and cooked. Then remove from heat and set aside
- In the same sauce pan, stir fry the satay sauce, peanut butter, curry powder and 1/2 cup of chicken stock until well mixed and thickened. Season with salt and pepper to taste, then add the beef back into the sauce
- To serve, put macaroni in a soup bowl, add chicken stock then top with the satay beef mixture.
Enjoy!
