Ingredients:
1 lb Ground Pork (or any meat you like)
1 lb Chinese Chives
1 pkg Chinese Dumpling Wrappers
1 Egg
2 Tbsp Cooling Oil
Marinate:
1 Tbsp Fish Sauce
1 Tbsp Oyster Sauce
1 Tbsp Salt
2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
2 tsp Pepper
2 tsp Garlic Powder
2 tsp Ginger Powder
2 Tbsp Mirin (Japanese cooking wine)
2 Tbsp Corn Starch
1 cup Water (or chicken stock for added flavor)
Method:
- Marinate ground pork with all the marinate ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Don't worry if the water added seems a lot at the beginning as the pork will absorb the liquid once you started to stir it.
- Stir the pork mixture in 1 direction for about 2 minutes until it's all combined and becomes a paste (or sticky)
- Clean and cut Chives into small pieces and mix with cooking oil
- Combine the chives into the pork mixture
- Add egg and mix well
- Put a tablespoon dumpling mixture in the dumpling wrapper, wet the edges of the wrapper, fold and pinch the side to close and make the dumpling.
- Boil a pot of water and boil the dumplings until cooked (they are cooked when they float to the top)
We really like to eat these yummy dumplings with soy sauce and hot sauce. You can also add them into chicken stock and it'll become dumpling soup.
Enjoy!
